Founded as a fully interactive online publication in December 2005,
The College Hill is the oldest and largest college newspaper in Sussex County. It is, coincidentally, the only college newspaper in Sussex County, succeeding the print version of
The College Hill.
Reporters for
The College Hill have been recognized for excellence in journalism by being hired out from under us by Newton’s major daily,
The New Jersey Herald; New Jersey’s state newspaper,
The Star-Ledger; and various weekly publications, including the
Sparta Independent and
The Township Journal.
The College Hill is published while classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters. No part thereof can be reproduced in any form, in whole or in part, without the prior written consent of the author.
The College Hill has been the recipient of numerous awards over the years. It was named the
Best Community College Newspaper by the New Jersey Collegiate Press Association in 1996. It has been awarded the
First Place Award for Outstanding College Journalism by the National Scholastic Press Association several times over the past ten years. In addition, Professor Gary Mielo, Faculty Advisor to
The College Hill, was named the
Distinguished 2-year College Newspaper Advisor in 2002 by the College Media Advisors, a national association.
All SCCC students are encouraged to submit articles, photographs, editorials, editorial cartoons, letters to the editor, and research papers. Student work is not subject to censorship of political expression. Submit works to: gmielo@sussex.edu. Please provide your name and student ID number.
