Students across Sussex County have spoken. They wanted to react to the fact that about 1,200 people die each day from smoking.

How did they respond? By collecting 1,200 pairs of shoes from across Sussex County and placing them on Lodestar Field in Fredon.

Each pair of shoes represented somebody who died from smoking. These shoes will be donated to local homeless shelters.

Apparently, middle school students prove the adage that one is never too young to take a stand.
