In her autobiography, WONDERFUL TONIGHT: GEORGE HARRISON AND ERIC CLAPTON, AND ME, Boyd tells of her life and loves, from growing up in Kenya, then London with her dysfunctional family to meeting, marrying, and leaving/divorcing George Harrison and then marrying and divorcing one of his closest friends, Eric Clapton.
On the surface she seemed to live a charmed life, but the reality was anything but. She lacked self-esteem and had no concept of self-worth; she blamed both her husbands constant infidelities on herself, was unable to have children, and struggled with alcoholism.
Her book has its flaws; it is disjointed, but for that the blame belongs to her co-author and editor, and any fan of George Harrison and Eric Clapton probably already knows most of what she discussed about her marriages. However, there are no gory details. Surprisingly, some of the most fascinating parts are abut her life growing up in Kenya and London.
Surviving not one, but two rock and roll marriages, alcoholism, and a plethora of other things that were put on display because she was in the public eye, Pattie Boyd came out as a survivor with a positive outlook on life. She has led an extraordinary life and has no regrets.
Her book is interesting and easy to read,. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the rip back to the 1960s a seen through the eyes of a woman who has seen it all.
