Are the artists you once loved no where to be seen today? If your answer is yes, it's no surprise. Many artists in the past ten years have risen and fallen faster than not. The decisions made by these artists are vitally important, professionally as well as personally.

There is much responsibility that comes with being a famous celebrity, but most forget this once they are comfortable being a star, and sometimes even shortly after. Taking advantage of it seems to be an easy task for artists these days. What really makes the difference is how and what they do.

Take an artist like Christina Aguilera, for instance. She has become an extraordinary hit in the music world. This 26-year-old woman has won four Grammy Awards. To have that many at this early age is astonishing. Back in 2001, after releasing her first C.D. "Genie In A Bottle," she came out with her C.D. "Stripped." Although it was a hit, the choices she made for her then appearance at that time weren't so hot.

Not only was her chart-rising first single "Dirrty" (that's two R's) dirty, but also it seemed her image was a little as well. Her hair was long and tangled looking, dyed white blonde and midnight black. The piercings on her face, as well as on other scattered parts of her body gave her a rougher look as well. The clothes she wore were extremely provocative, and so on. She was all for backing up her image, but all of a sudden she disappeared for a while, and when she came back more recently she was one hundred percent turned around.

Her music became '50s inspired. Her appearance was delicate and feminine, as well as extremely tasteful. Christina Aguilera all around was much more pleasant, so to speak. Now that doesn't mean her music was bad back in 2001, because obviously she was still extremely popular with many number one hits. Still, this new cleaned up image I personally believe was accepted more by a larger audience as well as more respected. I'm pretty sure Christina realized that in order to become even more successful that she needed to re-invent herself, as well as maybe clean up some of that dirt.

In the music industry, there is a term that is used called 'underground.' A lot of hardcore rap artists, and maybe the "real" ones in their opinion, seem to be underground. One band, in my very personal opinion are somewhat underground and no doubt really fantastic, are called 311. You may or may not have heard of them, depending. Even though they are less publicized, the chances of you knowing of them should still be good.
