The SCCC chapter of UMADD will be hosting a free training session for anyone interested in Room E 301 on Friday, Nov. 16 from 9a.m. to noon.
Participants, including students and faculty, will be trained as volunteer court monitors. The Court Monitoring Program is a tool developed by Mother's Against Drunk Driving ( MADD) to observe the DWI criminal justice system and create accountability.
The program is focused on forming strong alliances with law enforcement officers, judges, prosecutors, and defense counselors. Court monitoring sends volunteers trained in court procedures and DWI laws into the courtroom to observe cases and note their outcomes.
This is a great opportunity for individuals to gain valuable experience in the criminal justice system and/or service learning .
Register by calling either Professor Wendy Cooney at SCCC extension 2240 or Professor Bill McGovern at SCCC extension 2182.
