"It's too much of a hassle to leave and go eat then come back and try to fight for a parking spot," said Melissa Mahon, an SCCC student. "I'd rather just grab something at the school and hang out with friends until my next class. It's just easier to eat on campus rather than go out."
For other SCCC students, eating at a restaurant is a rare treat that they occasionally share with friends.
"Every once in a while my friends and I will get out of class early," said SCCC student Tim Aldrich. "It's just a nice break from the everyday cafeteria food .We either will go to Applebee's or the new Friendly's."
Eating out is fine for some, but this can be costly. The SCCC cafeteria serves soup, salads and sandwiches at reasonable and budget-friendly prices.
"It's nice having the cafeteria because I don't usually eat meals in between classes," said SCCC student Krysten Rembish. "I do like to just grab a snack and go back to class. If I were to go off campus, it would take too long to go there and back. I would probably miss a class. The cafeteria is convenient and works well with my budget."
So, while the addition of the new restaurants is nice for after-school hours, during school most students prefer eating at the school cafeteria with friends. It's close, it's affordable, and it doesn't involve you leaving your parking spot.
