Many students have burnt the midnight oil and struggled to finish papers on time, but now a more exciting and involved event calls out to students' nocturnal tendencies.

The event is the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life," a volunteer driven fundraiser designed to bring together over 3.5 million people nationwide to "celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much."

SCCC's "Relay for Life" will be held overnight, beginning on May 31at 2 p.m. and ending 8 at a.m. June 1.

"My goal is to have everyone on campus involved some way or another, either by creating and joining a team or volunteering their time," said SCCC Human Services Professor Melanie Arpaio who is coordinating the event.

"The goal this year for Sussex County Community College is $40,000 with hopes to make over $75,000," said Arpaio.

All participants in the relay can expect to enjoy food, drinks, and "entertainment for the event, consisting of music, games, and activities," according to the American Cancer Society's website .

For more information, contact Arpaio at (973) 300-2146 or at marpaio@sussex.edu.
