Sounds of cheers and clapping came from the SCCC Theater on March 5 as the Skylanders Basketball Men's and Women's Award Reception was held for the 2007-08 season.

John Kuntz, Director of SCCC Intercollegiate Athletics, welcomed students, faculty, family, and friends who supported the two teams during their challenging season. He then introduced Eric Powe, Head Coach for the Women's Team and Cornell Thomas, Head Coach for the Men's.

Kuntz presented Powe, the first Women's Skylanders Basketball Coach at SCCC, a plaque for the women's basketball inaugural team.

The Lady Skylanders for the 2007-08 season consisted of: Kayla DeGraw, Alexandria Potosnak, Jocelyn Peters, Sasha Scott, Caitlin Sherrier, Kristin Weaver, Jacqi Ragsdale, Sabrina Deversevic, Alison Young, with Assistant Coach Colin Powe.

The Men's Skylanders consisted of s: Earl Chang, Brian Dye, Ryan Egan, Eric Emedoh, Woodly Honore, Jaime McKenna, Antione Sanabria, Jaywong Benton, Zefrain Mora, and Brian Spedding, along with Rob Dombrowski and Dave Restrepo as the Assistant Coaches.

Special recognition for the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIX went to Sasha Scott (2nd Team All Region 19 and 2nd Team All GSAC) and Woodly Honore (2nd Team All Region 19 and 1st Team All GSAC).

The All Academic Team (those players with a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher) went to: Alexandria Potosnak, Jacquelyn Ragsdale and Sasha Scott for the Women's Team; and Brian Dye, James McKenna and Brian Spedding for the Men's Team. Kristin Weaver was named the Lady Skylanders Most Valuable Player.

The ceremony closed with a video of the last games for both Lady and Men Skylanders in action. Their spectacular plays and shots were enhanced by background music from the Stones hit "Gimme Shelter."
